Okay, we know the Men in Black definitely aren’t human from reading the last page; as well as from the clues presented in previous pages and even the deleted content from my commentary on page 34 — but that second panel sure takes the cake! What you’re looking at is one of the Men in Black actually sticking to the side of that building a la Spider-Man and not only that but you can see he’s blending into the exterior of the building so the average person passing by wouldn’t even notice…Kind of like a chameleon…wouldn’t you say? Speaking of chameleons…don’t reptiles climb things pretty well…? Hmmm. Man, I’m throwing hints left and right these days!
And finally we get to see a little pay off with a sneak peek of all this mystical-goodness and power that the Narrator keeps talking about. What he’s doing is “tapping into the universe.” The way I envisioned this character was to have somebody who could make worldly things happen–seemingly coincidental things at first glance… If you could come and go and become a part of the universe whenever you please, you could in my opinion learn how to control it. So he’s basically capable of bending parts of the universe he understands to his will. And this is evident here where he’s opening this portal in order to “cheat” so he can reach Art and Jillian on time.

Thanks for the comments guys. I’ve got another photoshoot today in less than two hours from now and I’m psyched as far as where the story has gone so far and where it’ll take you guys. I. Can. Not. Wait. Either! (Until you guys read it all of course!)
@ Francisco - Fixed your comment so all is cool. And YES I did get comments during the production of this page where people didn’t really understanding what was going on in the second panel and I totally understand where you were coming from. I wish I could have shown it in a better way but I had to move on. This “cloaking” ability will be more distinguishable in the coming pages.
@ Malik - Nice guess, that’s a pretty good theory you got there. Nah, they definitely aren’t shape-shifters like Odo but they do share similar properties. Odo could whoop them though. (DS9 was my favorite Star Trek series btw!) If you’re keen on regular UFO-lore and some of the alleged races that have visited earth then you might get a very good idea of which particular species I’m giving my own personal interpretation of here.
