Haven’t seen the Narrator in a while. This short scene was written for two specific purposes: To set up a major decision this character makes later on down the line and to show a more “human” side of him. I mean, sure, he IS human — but he’s something more — y’know with the whole “on the edge of ascension” thing going on and all that jazz.
He’s definitely one of the most complex characters I ever imagined. I love to give myself headaches from time to time contemplating this character, haha!
Katherine (who plays Martina) tagged along with me the day I shot this and to make this scene more interesting I asked her to walk in the shots to pose as an extra walking around in the background. This was shot AGES before I cast her as Martina so I had to go back and remove the shots with her in the background or you all would’ve been like “OMG!!! MARTINA IS GOING TO KILL THE NARRATOR!!!!”

I’m sad to see this comic go. I’m looking for someone to write just a quick comic for me so that I can practice this style of making comics. Also itd be fun to do an animated version of the narrorator’s life leading up to this. Like a four comic mini series.

Don’t lose hope just yet. I haven’t! Friends in High Places will continue but there just may be a cast change.
I thought long and hard about shooting around the small holes I had to fabricate a new plot path but we would have missed one of the key moments in Art and Jillian’s relationship.
Stay tuned, as I will let you know what’s in store for the future of The Pure and Hidden Truth when the information becomes more clear.
