100 PAGES!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

cANT BELIEVE I MADE IT THIS FAR!! I LIKE SEEING PROGRESS. LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT — oh whoops, left the caps button on, haha!

But yeah, it doesn’t seem like it but it sure has been a long journey so far. Let me just take the time to say that I’m thrilled and honored to be able to tell you all the stories that I come up with and have you all be touched in some way by the characters that I’ve created.

Only 16 pages left before the comic’s premature hiatus/break. But the second half of “Friends in High Places” is still on life support. Don’t worry about it. Guys, 2010 is the year of the Truth. This year is going to be big. So big. Stay tuned everyone.

Here’s another fun look into just one adventure from Art and Jilllian’s backstory: The Unicorn Incident. This rather indecent incident is another one of the planned running gags of the series that the characters will sometimes refer back to but the audience has never seen. This is just like the “Ocean City Incident” that Jillian refers to at the beginning of Act II on page 53.

Originally, I wanted to use this page to talk more about Jillian’s ability to talk to animals but decided to save that for another case.

In nine days I will turn 25 years old. Since I was 18 I have DREAMED of making movies. “The Pure and Hidden Truth” is the closest thing I’ve done to making a “movie” insofar as the fact that I created a script, found actors, and directed them in each of the scenes. This year I’m going to do moving pictures. This year I will start my first feature film project.

I would like to officially announce “The Peculiars” a superhero-themed movie which takes place in the Pure and Hiddenverse. The movie will star Richard “Ritchie” Pevo and introduces Noel Gonzalez as two of the leading characters in the film named Alexander Ashe and Jenny Everywhere. I’ve attached a very, very early “teaser” poster.

I really need to do this movie everybody. And I really need everyone’s help and support to get it done. There is no “i” in “team” — and making a real movie is a team effort. The biggest hurdles will be to finance this project and to assemble a team that is just as committed to my dream…

And we’re back with Art and Jillian! And we’re back at the Reeder Ranch from the prologue…..

This lengthy segment dealing with the Reeder Ranch is probably one of the biggest segments of Act II besides the Dakota/Martina confrontation which we had go on earlier. Ever since the prologue I had been building up for Art and Jillian to FINALLY get here.

Let’s see what their investigation finds out shall we? Stay tuned folks and be entertained.

Also, as a side note, these next 20 pages before the upcoming hiatus will be the last pages featuring Diana Kang as Jillian.

This page began as an early poster concept I was putting together. And then it hit me “Wow, I should make this one of the pages for when the Narrator is blabbering on about stuff.”

So here you have it! Haha!

As this scene ends I just want you to pay attention to how the Narrator mentions that he’s trying to leave the world as safe as he can possibly make it. Safe? Hmmm. Peculiar…

As you all should already know, I have been working on something akin to a “spin-off” of the comic that is live-action instead of a photocomic. The biggest news is that I plan to do a feature-length movie set in the Pure and Hiddenverse that focuses on a superhero group called “The Peculiars.”

If you have been following the sparse updates regarding the “Hidden Truth Radio” spin-off I’m going to be releasing episodes for soon you will remember that I have been “hyping up” a special episode that features the Jenny Everywhere character and I must say that I really like my interpretation of the open source property. Jenny Everywhere will be one of the starring characters in this film. As far as the other mystery character stay tuned for the OFFICIAL official announcement regarding my future film projects.

Here’s that “human” quality I was talking about for the Narrator’s character. It also reassures the readers that the Men in Black are still out there but definitely not as much of a threat at the moment thanks to the Narrator whisking them away. I always intended for the Men in Black to be a background antagonist for the entire series. I want to say that for the most part you have seen almost all there is to see of them in the “Friends in High Places” story besides their origin which you will find out much, much later.

This page is also probably one of the most important pages in regards to the Pure and Hiddenverse. The Narrator mentions that he’s “done too much already” and wonders if he’s actually going to be responsible for throwing the world out of whack thanks to his actions. Only time will tell.

You just have to ask yourself one question… What else has the Narrator been up to?

Haven’t seen the Narrator in a while. This short scene was written for two specific purposes: To set up a major decision this character makes later on down the line and to show a more “human” side of him. I mean, sure, he IS human — but he’s something more — y’know with the whole “on the edge of ascension” thing going on and all that jazz.

He’s definitely one of the most complex characters I ever imagined. I love to give myself headaches from time to time contemplating this character, haha!

Katherine (who plays Martina) tagged along with me the day I shot this and to make this scene more interesting I asked her to walk in the shots to pose as an extra walking around in the background. This was shot AGES before I cast her as Martina so I had to go back and remove the shots with her in the background or you all would’ve been like “OMG!!! MARTINA IS GOING TO KILL THE NARRATOR!!!!”

Every superhero has a weakness right? Well, as invincible as Dakota may be this is her biggest weakness. Her Achilles Heel. And it’s her kids who were taken away from her hundreds of years ago by some werewolf who got what it deserved — an thus put Dakota on her destructive path as a dark vigilante.

I’m a big fan of Duality between characters. I had my Art and Jillian duo and then eventually there will be the Dakota component that will make up a Trinity between the characters. But Dakota shares a duality with Martina. Martina does have a heart. She’s really just afraid of death. Something that never surfaced until she witnessed the true extent of Dakota’s immortal power and how it dwarfs the limited “immortality” granted by being a vampire. Dakota can’t die and she wants that power.

Apparently the werewolves have died out with knowledge of a “lamp” with a “djinn” inside that can help grant her “wish.” I don’t know how much more obvious I could have made that plot point a couple pages back, haha!

But will Art know about it? Seeing as how he isn’t a “true” werewolf? Someone’s going to be pissed…
